In your opinion, what are the most important ways the Co-‐op helps the community?
Answers:
- Many residents already volunteer their time and provide financial ‘donations’ towards bettering the community. Being a member of SODC allows them to grow the community by INVESTING in the community and helping to create a sustainable economy.
- Multiple investors minimize the individual risk for each investor.
- Keeping businesses close to home offers residents a local retail shopping experience.
- SODC provides an opportunity for people to invest in their local community with the potential to receive a reasonable rate of return.
- Helping to create succession plans for existing businesses.
- Several small investors pooling their funds creates significant capital to fund larger local projects
- Creating employment opportunities maintains youth in the community.
